Prayer and Fasting Overview
Season of Prayer and Fasting:
1. As the church emerges from the pandemic, we are seeking God’s direction for Clear Creek.
2. For this to happen, regular communication and connection with Him is essential.
3. This spring and summer, Clear Creek is invited to participate in two seasons of prayer and fasting. The first season will focus on our individual relationships with God and establishing a steady practice of prayer. The second season will focus on Clear Creek’s identity and direction as a church family.
4. Our hope is that as prayer becomes a normal way of life for us individually it will also become a regular part of how we meet with Jesus together as a church.
On Fasting:
This is a personal invitation to voluntarily give up something for the sake of connecting with Jesus. It could be one thing for the next several weeks, or something different each week. When seeking what to fast ask “What do I run to when I feel:
1.Inadequate?
2.Sad?
3.Mistreated?
4.Indecisive?
5.Anxious?
Etc...
The Practice of Prayer in this Season:
We will take four weeks to focus on different parts of the Lord’s Prayer. The practice will be to spend 2 minutes in silence before God and then begin praying (Thanking, Asking, and Listening) based on the focus of the week.
We will begin by using the Lord’s Prayer in Matthew 6:9-13 as a guide.
Pray then like this:
“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. - Week 1
Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven - Week 2
Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors - Week 3
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. - Week 4
Each week we will have specific thoughts for our times of prayer and fasting.
