Summer 2017: Reflecting on a Joy-Filled Season

As we stand on the edge of Fall, we look with anticipation at many of the things to come;

  • school starting and the flurry of activities that surround that,
  • a new season of events and group activities – resuming the Jr. and Sr. High youth groups, Community Groups starting up, the Harvest Festival,
  • new series in Adult Ed and our Worship Service,
  • additional outreach opportunities.

But before we shift our focus completely to the months ahead, we thought it would be good to take a few moments to reflect on and appreciate what the Lord has done during this sunny, summer season at Clear Creek and the number of fun outreach events that brought people together right here on our property…

“My husband, Ryan, and I helped to serve food at the community festival on August 13th. It was really awesome to be able to serve that way and see everyone’s faces. There were so many people we didn’t know from the community. It was really encouraging to see them come and eat and have a great time with their families. The growth of attendance from this year to last year grew significantly. I hope it will be a tradition that continues in the years to come.” — Kellee Haddan

“VBS has been a real blessing to us this summer. The kids have been looking forward to it all summer long, and it has not disappointed their hopes and expectations! But what has been really special for me, is to watch my oldest daughter blossom with joy and confidence as she has been a part of the ministry of VBS as a “Hero Harmonizer”, helping to teach songs and sign language to the children. She absolutely loves it and already wants to sign up to help again next year. It warms my heart and made me misty on more than one occasion, watching her share her heart for God with her younger siblings, and a whole bunch of other sweet little souls. All of these kids are our future, and I can’t wait to see how the Lord leads them. Thank you so very much [to all the VBS volunteers] for the hard work you’ve all put into this week. I believe the harvest will be great.” – Chelsea Claus

“Over the past year, Clear Creek has had a number of community-focused events: Community Festival of 2016 & 2017, The Harvest Party last October, VBS, as well as our traditional Christmas Eve Service, just to name a few. These have been attended by many people from the community surrounding Clear Creek campus. When we ask ourselves the “Why?” question – “Why are we doing these events?”, the answers lie in the calling and purpose of the church.

2 Corinthians 5:20 says, “So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”

These events are opportunities for the people of Clear Creek to demonstrate the Love of God to our neighbors – which is an incredibly powerful way to share the good news of the gospel. These community events provide a bridge to begin relationship with those who don’t know Jesus or attend church; they see that we are “real” people who care about them and can see us having fun. It also gave us the opportunity to invite them to church to explore what a deeper relationship with Christ means for them. The elders are very excited about these events and activities as powerful outreach opportunities for all of us to be involved in.” – Alan Wheatley

It is clear from these stories and so many others that the impact was great. We have much to be thankful for at Clear Creek, and much to look forward to!

Not only are we building bridges of relationship with our neighbors, we are also seeing God move within the lives of our own families as well.

These events were fun and exciting, but also a lot of work. We want to thank each of you who helped with these and the other events this summer! Your servant spirit and desire to do what was needed are a real blessing.

God has a great future for Clear Creek and we are excited to be a part of it with you!
