Do Not Give Up Meeting Together…
Our summer has been amazing, full of adventure with our children and vacations with family. We have traveled nearly every weekend since the end of June. Our experiences as a family have been memorable and I treasure them. However, with all of the missed Sundays, I have begun to notice a feeling of disconnectedness from my family at Clear Creek. I feel out of touch with many people who are so important in my life. Thankfully, in this day of technology, I am able to quickly connect with friends over Facebook or text message. I can also listen to the sermons online and catch up with the announcements on the weekly emails. But, none of that takes the place of the community of believers that is experienced on Sunday mornings.
Hebrews 10:25 says,
“Do not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
I love this truth from the Word. When we begin missing Sundays, begin making excuses for why it just doesn’t work to get to church, we lose touch. We miss the encouragement. We begin to feel disconnected. In many ways, I am sad that the “vacation season” is winding down. I love the chance to get away, relax, renew, and enjoy my family. On the other hand, I am happy that we are getting back into the routine of Sundays at church with a family of believers who love Jesus and love one another.
Do not give up meeting together.
Come and connect with your family in Christ.
I am looking forward to the Community Festival at Clear Creek this Sunday because it is an amazing opportunity to do exactly that. To connect with our church family and the people in our community. The Community Festival will be a time of food, fun, music, and building relationships. I hope that you will join me and my family by coming out to enjoy time with your friends and share the love of Jesus with our neighbors. One of the things at the festival that is close to my heart is the donation drive for Food for Families because it’s an incredible, hands on way to support our community. Please consider picking up a donation for Food for Families; the most needed items are personal hygiene products, oil, flour, spices, diapers, dog/cat food, and canned protein. And if you haven’t already, check out the event on our Facebook page and invite a friend.
Let’s show the least of these in our community that we care about their personal day to day needs, as well as their personal relationship with Jesus.
