Elders

eldersThe overall ministry at Clear Creek Church is directed by a team of Elders. In Scripture the Elders are responsible for the spiritual and shepherding tasks of the congregation (I Timothy 3:1-7, I Peter 5:1-3).

Therefore, the Elders of Clear Creek seek to support and encourage the mission and vision of the congregation through teaching, preaching, counseling, leading, directing, and protection of the spiritual health of the congregation.

The Elders recognize that Jesus is the head of the church and that we desire, as a family, to love and follow Him as a way of life.

The Elders meet each Thursday morning for regular prayer and discussion in addition to monthly for Elder meetings.

As a Clear Creek family, each can be involved in the ministry of the Elders by regular prayer for them and their families.

Should you have questions, or matters of spiritual concern, the Elders are certainly available to serve. You may contact any of the Elders after service or via e-mail or phone listed to the right.

Meet Our Elders

Alan Wheatley
Alan and Jill have been married since 1982 and have 2 grown children and one grandson. In addition to being an Elder at Clear Creek, Alan has a private counseling practice, where Jill is the office manager. Alan & Jill love camping and hiking, especially in the Northwest. Alan is a graduate of Multnomah University and Western Seminary.

Milan Homola
Milan and his wife, Tara, moved to Portland from the Midwest to attend Multnomah University and have since fallen in love with the Pacific Northwest. They have two daughters and one son and enjoy getting outside as much as possible (most people do when they come from the Midwest to the Pacific NW). They make camping a priority in the summers and love spending time with close friends.

Al Cushway
Al and Barb Cushway hail from Michigan, having come out here to attend Western Seminary. Al and Barb have been married 40 years and have 3 grown sons, 3 grand-daughters and 2 grandsons. Al and Barb are pet lovers, often fostering of dogs in need. Al’s great passion is the study and teaching of Scripture to equip and encourage God’s people. Barb ministers faithfully at the Oregon Humane Society not just to God’s furry creatures, but to the people placed in her path.

Deacon Ministry

DeaconsThe purpose of the Deacon’s Ministry is to serve the Lord and His Church by assisting the Pastor/Elders in meeting the spiritual and physical needs of the Church, with a particular emphasis on the physical needs.

The Deacons at Clear Creek Church are volunteer servant leaders who meet the qualifications for the office of Deacon as outlined in I Timothy 2:8-13.

Deacons are appointed by the Elders and current Deacons, with input from the congregation.

Duties and Responsibilities: The Deacons assist the Pastor/Elders in whatever ways the Pastor/Elders would have them so that the Pastor/Elders can devote themselves to prayer and the teaching and preaching of God’s Word. Besides taking on any new projects the Pastor/Elders request, the Deacons have ongoing responsibilities that they do throughout the year.

These responsibilities consist of 7 main areas:

Care of Church Building
Alex Matthis
Care of Church Property
Kevin Hanson
Member Care and Benevolence
Doug Sanford
Visitation
Randy Souders
Sacraments*
Bill Lunceford
Special Events
Bruce Brown
Financial and Legal Policies
Mark Armstrong, Minister of Operations, is assisting the Deacons in these areas.

Several of the above areas require help from the congregation. If anyone is interested in serving on one of the above teams, they can contact the Deacon who leads that particular team for more information.
